Garden Update June 2010

Here they are! Our first photo's of our garden as it is just beginning to bloom. The wildflowers and vegetable seeds we planted are really doing well.

Even the flowers we planted in the shady boxes are doing well. There is a beautiful larkspur in a couple of different colors, Nasturtiums and something that looks like Flax.

Look at the poppy's and lupine! They're beautiful, and the Bumble Bees just love them. If it stays sunny they'll really take off.

And there are so many butterflies! Most them are small and white, and they're so fast I can't get a picture of them! They won't pose like the Bumble Bees.

What's that growing in the Preschool/Pre-K bed? Is it a pumpkin? A squash? Stay tuned to find out!

That's such a pretty purple flower, but it smells funny! I wonder what it is?

Our dwarf apple tree is doing very well now that it has some water, sunlight and a little TLC. It is even coming on with a full load of apples! I wonder what they'll taste like?

It's hard to believe that just 8 months ago our poor tree looked like this! It was so over grown we didn't even know we had an apple tree! What a surprise when we started cleaning our the old garden.

If you want to see how far we've come, check out my blog on The Birth - or rebirth - of our Garden. It really helps you appreciate what we've accomplished so far with the help of our parents and everyone that donated to the project. Just think about what we can do next year!

Keep in touch for more photo's, and write me back if you'd like. Is there a particular plant you're wondering about? Or do you want to know what's happening in your garden bed? Let me know and I'll do my best to send you some pictures.

Hmmm, I wonder what was planted in the 4th grade box? It doesn't look like wildflowers. We'll just have to watch and see.
